Born 1958 in France. Graduated from Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole Nationale du Génie Rural, des Eaux et des Forêts, obtained PhD from University Paris 6 in 1988 after long stays in Kyoto University. Specialist of rheological modelling and structure/properties relationships in wood, since 1989 CNRS researcher in Laboratory of Mechanics and Civil Engineering of Montpellier University until 2017 then in Institut Pascal of Clermont-Ferrand. Since 2012 leads a national network of wood science (GDR3544). Involved in COST actions since 1990. Collaborations with Europe, Africa and Asia. Won CNRS silver medal in 2003. Published 82 ISI papers, 30 other papers or book chapters, edited 4 books. Member of International Academy of Wood Science since 2008 and Corresponding member of French Academy of Agriculture since 2019.
